Thank you to all who worked to produce the tremendous victories of progressive candidates in Virginia in 2017. WAFA is already planning messaging and organizing for the 2018 CD1 race. Come to our meetings to be part of that process. Click HERE for a link to THIS WEEK. Click HERE For a link to SAVE THE DATE.
Coordinated Campaign Field Action Opportunities Coordinated Campaign Office is 311 Central Road, Fredericksburg
To sign up for a canvass, just click on the link that works for you. To sign up for a phone bank, just drop by! We've even got a fresh batch of signs that you can take after your shift is done.
Also, please remember that canvasses and phone banks are still being conducted out of the Joshua Cole campaign office as well (618 Kenmore Ave).
Election Day Volunteer Opportunity Despite all the work during the campaign getting out information to voters, there will always be a need for people at the polls on Election Day. We need you to help folks who don't know who will be on their ballot, or maybe need that last-minute nudge to vote for a straight Democratic ticket. You can sign up for a shift here - we still need tables and chairs at most precincts, so make sure to add your name to those fields if you can help.
General Information about Canvassing There are three canvassing shifts: 9 AM 12PM 3PM Canvassing is set for the following days: Saturday (10/28) Sunday (10/29) Saturday (11/4) Sunday (11/5) Monday (11/6) ELECTION DAY (Tuesday November 11/7)
Josh Cole Campaign Field Action Opportunities All Canvassing & Phone Banking starts at 618 Kenmore, Ave., Fredericksburg, VA 22401
If you can donate food or drinks for these canvass launches or phone banks please contact Eric at [email protected].

PLANNING FOR THE CRUCIAL GET-OUT-THE-VOTE (GOTV) WEEKEND THRU ELECTION DAY:
The election is on Tuesday 11/7
PLANNING FOR THE CRUCIAL GET-OUT-THE-VOTE (GOTV) WEEKEND THRU ELECTION DAY: -Plan to MAKE TIME for election work on the weekend before the election, Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues - Nov4/5/6/7. Can you take off work for election day work? Schedule it NOW. Tell your boss; locate your babysitter! Put it on your calendar -If you can’t take off, can you do a shift at the polls giving out sample ballots before or after work? Starts with setup at 5am and goes constantly until 7pm. Contact your Committee Chair for specific details. -Plan for two shifts one day and go to lunch in the middle or one shift each day. -If you absolutely cannot do a shift, plan to bring in pizzas and drinks or evening cookies to keep volunteers going. You can call in a pizza delivery with your credit card without leaving your desk. -How phone calls on election day help: ask voters to MAKE A PLAN for voting. Potential voters who describe their plan are much more likely to VOTE.
IDEAS FOR PLANNING YOUR OWN PHONE BANK: -Your time is always needed for canvassing and phone banking. Try one of these ideas to get your friends moving, too! -Pick the evening or weekend shift for your group/friends/ coworkers/ organizers/ co-activists and determine a theme you’d all enjoy. We’ve seen groups share their favorite wines, desserts, or music while they phonebank once a week. Sheet Caking is fun. Take a picture and post it on your group’s FB page, even if only two show up the first time. -Coordinated with Brian and Tyler of coordinated campaign or with the Cole campaign to use their offices. Tyler Green Mobile (412) 736-7545 [email protected]
-Do you or a group mate know a local hero or politician or other you would like to see? Ask them to visit during a phonebank or have them help you launch a canvass. -Know a Democratic business owner who would let you use their facilities? See if they’ll let you phonebank from a small or back room. (You will probably have to promise to buy a certain number of meals) -Tell us what you plan and BAN will help you get the word out on our calendar and Facebook page. If it’s a phonebank or canvass open to everyone, we’ll include it in our email. [email protected] This message was generated by Trina from BAN and Shelley from WAFA

Josh Cole, progressive candidate for Virginia’s 28th District, has been endorsed by Virginia’s Chapter of Planned Parenthood! From the Cole Campaign: Contrary to the picture of Planned Parenthood painted by right-wing politicians, the organization offers a variety of services to the community, including healthcare to low-income individuals, HIV/AIDS testing, health counseling, guidance on family planning, and access to contraceptives that empower citizens to control their life choices. Josh is proud to fight alongside a group that enables our citizens to lead healthier and safer lives. Josh says “Our movement will stop this war against access to safe medical options and access to healthcare. Most importantly we want to ensure women and mothers are not treated like second-class citizens by the General Assembly. We are fighting for a Commonwealth where everyone is equal, no matter your gender, sexuality, income, skin color, or country of origin. Please help in spreading the word and sharing our goals with others in your community. It's critical we make our voices heard this year because we cannot afford to lose our fight for progressive reforms!”
