Empowerhouse is a nonprofit accredited domestic violence services organization and offers free and confidential services to victims and their children in Planning District 16. Empowerhouse’s shelter for domestic violence, the Haven, is a 24-hour emergency residential shelter (average annual number served: 85 women with 85 children, unpublicized location)
Items needed for shelter: Paper goods: paper towels & toilet paper, trash bags feminine hygiene products, large diapers & pull-ups laundry, dish detergent, cleaning supplies
Gift Cards for: gas underwear & socks prescriptions, phone cards & fresh food Fredericksburg bus tickets (Department stores, grocery stores, convenient stores, and pharmacies) These cards, very conveniently, help to buy new underwear, allow a person to call long distance to estranged family members from whom a victim has been isolated, fill up a gas tank, or meet the need for perishable groceries (milk, eggs, fresh fruit, etc.)
